Our guidelines cover staff safety and environmental principles. We have a responsibility and our quality control systems ensure that care covers not only our products but also our customers.

BEFORE USE:

  1. 1. Ensure blade type and specification, is suitable for material to be cut.
  2. 2. Inspect blade for cracking, segment detachment, undercutting of steel centre just below segment, uneven wear or any other defect.
  3. 3. Check rotation of machine spindle matches direction arrow on blade.
  4. 4. Ensure bore size of blade matches size of machine spindle.
  5. 5. Wear adequate safety clothing, including eye protection.
  6. 6. Check machine is in safe working order - especially protective guards.

DURING USE:

  1. 1. Do not apply excessive force when cutting. This can damage the blade.
  2. 2. If overheating occurs, the product being cut is too hard. A blunt blade can be re-sharpened by running in a soft abrasive material such as brick or block. If this problem recurs stop using and consult your supplier.
  3. 3. Ensure material being cut is firmly secured.
  4. 4. If wet cutting, ensure there is plentiful supply of water for both sides of the blade.

CAUTION
IF IN DOUBT - STOP CUTTING AND CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER

Safety When Dry Cutting

Do's

  1. 1. DO clean the flanges before mounting the blade and checking both plates are the same diameter

  2. 2. DO ensure that the blade is correct for the material being cut

  3. 3. DO ensure that the arrow on the blade corresponds with the direction of rotation of the machine spindle

  4. 4. DO ensure that the blade is in balance and running true A blade which is out of balance means increased wear and even possible destruction of the saw. Ensure that the blade is concentric to within 015mm

  5. 5. DO ensure that the machine bearings and spindle are not worn, or blade life will be reduced

  6. 6. DO avoid tilting the blade when cutting

  7. 7. DO only use machines which have an approved safety guard

  8. 8. Do remove the blade from the machine during transit to prevent accidental damage 9 DO inspect blade frequently to detect cracks or undercutting to steel centre

  9. 9. DO observe the Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1970

  10. 10. DO ensure that the machine is not dropped on the blade

  11. 11. DO always wear appropriate protective equipment including head, ear and eye protection plus gloves and safety footwear

Don'ts

  1. 1. DON’T use your blade on metals or other unsuitable materials If you have any doubt call our office

  2. 2. DON’T apply pressure and force your diamond blade through the cut. The weight of the machine will suffice Increased pressure means increased wear

  3. 3. DON’T let excessive heat be generated at the cutting edge of the blade
