How to Grind Concrete Floors With a Diamond Grinding Cup Wheel

There are many reasons to use diamond grinding cup wheels to grind concrete. For example, you need to grind drainage ditch to concrete walkway. Firstly, need to remove the patio surface which is too smooth. Alternatively, you may need to grind a cripling concrete on top of a stair tread to remove a sharp bulge. Using the diamond grinding cup wheel is not a process that requires smooth grinding but it requires that you pay more attention to details during grinding; or the angle grinder could slip out of your hand and the diamond cup grinding wheel may hurts you.

 

Firstly:

Make sure the lock pin located is pressed on the housing of the angle grinder to lock the diamond grinding cup wheel in right way. Place the nipples on the spanner wrench into the two holes on the bottom of the retaining nut that holds the diamond grinding cup pad in place and then loosen the nut. Remove the nut and the old cup grinding wheel and then install a new diamond grinding cup wheel suitable for concrete work. It is suggest use the brazed diamond grinding cup wheels with coarse grits, such as arrow shapes cup wheels, even PCD diamond grinding cup wheel. Thread the retaining nut in right place and tighten it with the spanner wrench. 

 

Secondly:

Mark the width of the area you want to grind on concrete with a pencil or marker pen. it shows you the grinding area.

 

Thirdly:

Hold the diamond grinding cup wheel at a 45 degree angle to the concrete and pull the trigger. Hold the angle grinder away from you, make contact with the concrete and then pull the angle grinder towards you in a smooth, slow and consistent manner. Do not force the diamond grinding cup wheel into the concrete. Allow the diamond grinding cup wheel time to grind into the concrete. This will minimize heat buildup and prevent the concrete from prematurely destroying the diamond grinding cup wheel.
